My AI adventure. Not for the easily offended.

"But why blue, Comrade Stalin?" Hold on, I've got my own variation of this - Gary Gygax comes to the CEO of WotC in a dream. The CEO says "Mister Gygax, D&D's reputation is going down the shitter! Competitors are releasing new systems every day, people think we are a greedy corporation, and...

My AI adventure. Not for the easily offended.

Ok, you need to chill the fuck out before you burst a blood vessel. 1) My original premise - the one you've ignored in all that you're talking about - is that a module with stats is less OSR compatible than one without stats. My exact quote was "Technically any stat-less adventure would be OSR...

My AI adventure. Not for the easily offended.

Case in point: I dare you to find a single edition of any RPG in which you cannot run "The Orc and the Pie", which is 100% stat-less. In case you are unfamiliar with "the shortest adventure ever written", here it goes: The Orc and the Pie "There is a room. In the room is an orc and a pie. What...

My AI adventure. Not for the easily offended.

What are you talking about? There are literally guidelines in every edition of every DMG ever written for how to stat out monsters and NPCs. You have actually read a DMG, haven't you? Just because "you can't even guess" or "you don't like having to guess" is not a valid reason - you don't have...

My AI adventure. Not for the easily offended.

Technically any stat-less adventure would be OSR compatible, assuming a DM knows enough to fill in the blanks. Not saying it wouldn't be a headache, but it would be "compatible". Compatibility issues arise when stats are already included, not when they're excluded.

I think this adventure may have been written by AI, you guys.

    Return to Perinthos?

Disagree. Hard disagree. But we aren't doing this dance again. I'll stay on my side of the line, you stay on yours (literally, in this case).

    Return to Perinthos?

Oh, bummer. I don't expect to be visiting the States for at least three and a half years... for obvious reasons. And that's being optimistic, assuming sanity comes back into vogue.

    Return to Perinthos?

Thanks for this grodog. The binding is a choice - it certainly has a charming "homemade" quality to it, eh? Not to disparage or anything; I wouldn't mind owning a copy myself.

Rules on using AD&D monsters in module

It's amazing how much can be adapted on the fly with little protesting (or even awareness) from the players. I think the golden rule of DMing is "Thou shalt roll with the punches, for that is what thy screen is for".

That last link reminds me of this old video which also makes for some cool food-for-thought on monsters. Nevermind, the original video got taken down or something.

They're like black licorice - you either love it, or you believe the rest of the world crazy for loving it. Grand Budapest Hotel is his opus; if you watch it, you'll know which side you fall on. Life Aquatic is pretty approachable too, as a way to dip your toe in (pun intended).

Like, the sequel film? I've heard bad things... FYI any Wes Anderson fans out there, I heartily endorse The Phoenician Scheme - a real return to form for Anderson after the staleness of Asteroid City and the divisiveness of French Dispatch. Really takes after GBH in terms of tonality and humor.

    SQART

I will absolutely be giving this a look tonight. As a Photoshop veteran, I can't stand GIMP as-is , but it's gotta be a better alternative than Photopea (which is seemingly stuck in the Creative Suite 1 era of Photoshop features), right?

Black Blade Publishing and the OSR Community

Admirable. I wish I could muster up enough passion for something to keep at it for 16 years. Kudos!

    Your Thoughts?

No no no. Fuck I hated when old modules did that, especially since I was playing them at a time when the supplemental stuff was out of print, and there was no internet to source them. Forcing a purchase feels predatory and microtransactional, whereas gently suggesting "hey, if you want to max...

    Your Thoughts?

If I may proffer a suggestion: Rumor Table: If you own a copy of the Main Module roll 2d12, otherwise roll 1d12. Rumors 1-12 = strictly pertains to the current introductory module. Rumors 13-24 = has a component (a location, person, treasure, hook, etc.) of the Main Module. Ideally overlapping...

    Your Thoughts?

If it harms the adventure to break it up, then obviously don't break it up. Coherence above everything. Maybe design a short prequel instead - hook people into buying the bigger part with a taste.

    Your Thoughts?

Yes, it's a DIY hobby with no barriers to entry. That stuff is going to happen; you could say the same about any hobbyist-profession, really. "Some YouTube videos are bloated with guff. Some YouTube videos have a pathetic amount of content. The restrictions of the algorithm is a cruel prison...
